ROLE OVERVIEW
About the Opportunity
The Liaisoning Manager will be responsible for managing all government, regulatory, and utility-related approvals required for solar projects. The role involves coordinating with DISCOMs, electrical inspectorates, government departments, local authorities, and internal teams to ensure timely approvals, net metering clearances, permits, and project commissioning. The role carries primary ownership of Open Access approvals in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Karnataka, and of net metering approvals pan-India, with the same six states as core markets.
Key Responsibilities-
Government & Regulatory Liaisoning
• Coordinate with DISCOMs, Electrical Inspectorate, CEIG, and other government authorities for project approvals.
• Obtain statutory approvals, permits, and clearances required for solar installations.
• Open Access Approvals: Own end-to-end Open Access (OA) approvals – application, feasibility, connectivity, and banking/wheeling approvals – across Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Karnataka.
• Ensure compliance with state and central renewable energy regulations.
• Maintain strong relationships with government officials and regulatory bodies.
Net Metering & Utility Coordination
• Net Metering – Pan-India: Drive net metering applications and approvals across India, with direct ownership of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Karnataka, and oversight of all other states as project pipeline requires.
• Coordinate for feasibility approvals, inspections, and meter installations.
• Follow up with utility departments to ensure timely project commissioning.
• Resolve issues related to net metering and grid connectivity.
Project Coordination
• Work closely with sales, engineering, and project execution teams.
• Ensure all required documents are collected and submitted accurately.
• Track approval status and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
• Support project commissioning and handover activities.
Documentation & Compliance
• Maintain records of all approvals, permits, and correspondence.
• Ensure projects comply with DISCOM guidelines and electricity regulations.
• Monitor changes in government policies and regulatory requirements including Open Access and net metering regulations in the core states.
• Prepare compliance reports and MIS updates.
Stakeholder Management
• Coordinate with customers, vendors, consultants, and government departments.
• Handle escalations related to approvals and regulatory matters.
• Represent the company during inspections and official meetings.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 12–20 years of experience in solar liaisoning, regulatory approvals, Open access, net metering, or utility coordination.
• Experience working with DISCOMs, CEIG, and government departments is mandatory.
Skills Required
• Strong knowledge of solar regulations, Open access, net metering, BESS and utility processes.
• Excellent government liaisoning and relationship management skills.
• Strong negotiation and communication abilities.
• Project coordination and documentation management.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, Google Sheets, and MIS reporting.
